I still remember the first thing I ever finished. It was lopsided. One side was tighter than the other, the stuffing showed through a gap I didn't know how to close, and honestly? It looked a little bit funny. But it was mine. I had taken a single strand of yarn and a hook, and out of nothing I had made a little creature with a face and a personality. I sat there holding it like it was made of gold.
